Pen and ink<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

‘Pen and ink’ is the fine art technique that involves the use of ink applied with a dip pen.
In June of 1958 Demetrio Aguilera Malta expressed of Efra\u00edn Andrade\u2019s artwork: \u201cThe first thing that amazes us in Efra\u00edn Andrade is his drawing technique. Both in his pure black and white productions and in those that have greater chromatic richness, we can see a great artistic category. It seems that Andrade “paints” with the pen.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the early fifties, Andrade experimented with the contemporary movement of cubism, but soon went back to the straightforward realist style that would characterize his work from then on.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Nature was always the frame of Efra\u00edn Andrade\u2019s paintings. His encounter with the natural environment manifested on his arrival in 1950 to Esmeraldas, the green province he adopted as his own.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The people of Esmeraldas were the main subject of Andrade\u2019s paintings. To him, they represent the core essence of the beautiful green province.
Andrade was proud of the artwork that expressed the life and feelings of people he observed, though he did not promote his art. He wanted his paintings to speak for him.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
